Welcome to the Nigerian Institution of Metallurgical, Mining & Materials Engineers (NIMMME) - A Division of Nigerian Society of Engineers

The Division was inaugurated by the Council of the Nigerian Society of Engineers in 1988 as Metallurgical and Mining Division. The Division was born about the time when the country’s primary steel production plants and rolling mills (The Delta Steel Company and the Ajaokuta Steel Company) along with the three Inland Steel Rolling Mills in Jos, Oshogbo and Katsina commenced operations. Metallurgical, Mining and Materials (MMM) Division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers is one of the Divisions of the Umbrella body set up to carter for engineering professional graduates, trained in Metallurgy, Mining and Materials and related disciplines such as Ceramics Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Textile Engineering, Foundry Engineering, etc.


To be the leading light and force of propulsion in all aspects of engineering materials development and application in Nigeria.


To constantly develop members professional competencies to rank among the best in the globe. To establish codes and standard for professional practice in line with global best practices and develop local engineering material resources for national technological and economic development.

Engr. Dr. Ayo Adeyemo, MNSE. (National Chairman)

Engr. Dr Ayodeji Temidayo Adeyemo is the current and tenth National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Metallurgical, Mining and Materials Engineers (A Division of Nigerian Society of Engineeers). He is in Strategic Business Development Department, Julius Berger Nig. Plc, Abuja, Nigeria. He was born in Iyin Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area, Ekiti State. Dr. Adeyemo attended Alagbaka Primary School and Army Comprehensive Secondary School all in Akure from 1976 to 1987.

He attended The Federal University of Technology, Akure, where he graduated with B.Eng. (Mining, 1992) as the Best Student in the Department of Mining Engineering with Second Class (Upper Division) wining two Awards:
i) The Departmental Prize for the Best Graduating Student with the highest CGPA, and

ii) Alhaji Rilwanu Lukman Prize for being the Best Graduating Student in the Department of Mining Engineering. Had Certificate of Proficiency in Information Systems Management (Distinction, 2001) from APTECH C. He obtained his M.Eng. (Rock Mechanics) from Federal University of Technology, Akure in 2010.

Engr. Dr. Adeyemo was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D) in Mining Engineering from Federal University of Technology, Akure, in 2019 with emphases on “Rock Mechanics”.
